BTW, I just checked, and floor mats are only $645 list. Tell that dealer to go **** themselves.
As far as a good dealer to order from? Try Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda. Do some searching in the 3rd gen section to find his #. Next best thing to mazdaspeed motorsports.

I have a friend with an embroidering machine for carpet... I keep trying to convince him to do custom floor mats. Replicas of the originals... He could make bank.
I need a set! Does anybody know where I can get a good aftermarket set that resembles the oem? I called the dealer and asked for a price and they told me no longer available. I told him that I heard the mazda dealers are to lazy to look up the parts and I had a friend that worked at the parts counter for Chrysler and he said they did the same thing. The guy responded with, "Oh." I was inspired to ask because a guy at work has a VW TDI and he bought his floor mats from the dealer for $46. I have found that the BMW dealers prices are not bad for the older models but these Mazdas are way too expensive especially for parts of poor quality.

It seems that Mazda still has an amazing supply of parts for the FC in its warehouses. Do you think they also have tons of stuff for less popular models like the GLC, 929, MX-3, etc.? How can they afford to keep all that stuff for so long? I guess the answer is to gouge the hell out of the few deep-pockets enthusiasts who still shell out for OEM parts for their old Mazdas.
Is there ever a point where Mazda (or any automaker) just sends old parts to the landfill because the cost of warehousing them outstrips the demand for them? How often do you think Mazda actually sells an $1100 'Vert carpet set, a $2000 leather seat, or whatever??
Don't you think it would make sense for an automaker like Mazda to reduce the prices of all its backlog of OEM parts as a particular model ages? For example, if they announced a huge reduction in the prices of the OEM carpet sets, replacement seats, etc., they could empty out their warehouses to make room for all the parts for newer models.

A couple years ago BMW built a 2002 (1973 model year) out of nearly all new parts in order to showcase their fantastic inventory of parts. I think there is a law that requires there be suppot for all parts for 10 years from date of manufacture. I think because of the Japanese don't believe in holding inventory that they are the worst companies to buy parts for on older models. It is a good point to make that holding parts in inventory does not make money till you sell them, it will affect people attitude towards your company when they can't fix their car because there are no parts. How does it make you feel that somebody with a BMW 2002, which is twice as old as your car, can go to the dealer and buy pretty much any part they want at a descent price and Mazda may not have the parts you want and if they do they are going to brutally gouge you?
I work for a toyota dealer and thats just how the prices are. cost to them is about half or less than what list is but its a dealer. that's why you only get small items like oil filters and stuff like that from them
Well, I called last week to get a price on the BAC valve cuz mine is shot.
Guess for how much they sell that piece of ****....678!!!!!$ I could get a used FC for 600$!
