Glasspacks on rex's

Hey ive got a 87 T2 and my stock exhaust is literaly falling apart the left muffler is in peices and rattles like a ***** ! its so annoying. I gotta go for aircare in May. Im wondering if i should just get a Y pipe made and put a glasspack before the pipe splits into the Y and get tips on the ends. any idea how this would sound ? cuz glasspack insides look exact same as most knockoff mufflers at speedhops. they look identical. some feedback would be great. thanks !

it is my understanding that fiberglass (glass pack) mufflers tend to be subject to early failure on rotarys due to the extremely high exhaust temperatures.

It will sound good for 2 weeks at most. With mine, after 2 weeks, the exhaust was getting noticable louder, and within 3 weeks, all the fiberglass was burned out.

They came on my TII from the previous owner. They are loud but seem to muffle enough. Sounds good at low rpms but gets noisy at higher rpms.
