I dont know about you guys but the glass sunroof makes the FC look awesome. I dont know it is like it should been like that standard. That is why people who have them will not let them go.

I don't believe you..

I wish I had known that they were so rare. My first rx7 86 base had a glass sunroof. Damn I wish I still had it. Oh well

I just let my 10AE Finish Line roof go... For $350 shipped... :)

Hey 13b4me - just wondering if you had the chance to ship the glass roof for my FC. This is going to look so good on my project car I'm excited. The carb and ignition is about complete so I am nearing the point where I can test ride it. As soon as you can ship the roof I would appreciate it. It's still a little cold up here to be riding around without a roof.
As for the side windows and rear deck, there might be an interest. I need to see how the bronze tint looks from the outside to determine if it will work with the car. How much do you want for the side windows, back window, combined group? As soon as I get the roof and see what the tint looks like from the outside I will make my decesion. Let me know.

you wont care for it much once you realize how much of a heat gain it is to the interior :)

Not to mention the vibrations at speed with the sunroof open...

Lucky13 03-09-06 04:50 PM

i never seen a glass sunroof in person, but whats wrong with a stock sunroof?

to me spending 300+ $$ US to make something different but not better is money that is wasted. Cause really, what does it do?

banzaitoyota 03-09-06 05:35 PM

Its Different!!!!!

STANZ 03-09-06 10:03 PM

its different and you most likely dont have to deal with the most hated RUST issues!!! unless the black painted edges rust but thats unlikely. IT LOOKS PIMP and if you dont want vibrations at speed close the damn top! wait a minute....why would it vibrate more than a metal roof? WEIGHT?

The edges are rubber, not metal... Also vibration really isn't a problem with the glass top unless it's installed improperly... Hell I have a carbon fiber sunroof and it doesn't even vibrate... ;)

The vibrations I was referring to can best be compared to the dreaded hatch rattle that so many FC owners complain about...something to do with the glass?

13b4me 03-10-06 01:41 AM

I doubt it's directly related to the glass... Probably another reason it's occuring, such as loose hardware or a worn out slider...

Bluecoop91 03-10-06 01:48 AM

The glass sunroof panel was watertight and operated as normal for the time that I owned the car...

Ive owned 4 FC's and i have 3 FC owners that i would consider close friends, only 1 FC has a rust patch on the sunroof, its a very minor one at that. But theres a reason. The car was originaly from alberta, where it was driven in salted roads. Wheel well rust seems to be more common to me but thats only my opinion.

i just cant justify spending $300+ US when i can get a mint stock sunroof for $50 CND. Plus, i like my black headliner :balls:

STANZ 03-11-06 12:19 AM

yeah mine only has a little bit of rust. tiny dot of it on the roof itself also :(. so the outside edge is rubber? is it paintable? man im just gonna put my limited funds into performance. megan coilovers comin up next. just bought EGT, Volt Meter, and Boost gauge for 150 total from Megan!!! not bad at all for decent lookin gauges. sorry for goin off topic
