give a n00b a lesson on gears

i'm looking at the different gears that are availble for my car and they seem appelling. what is a good ratio that will still give me a good 1/4, yet allow me to have good pickup on the street? also, where is the best place to buy them and how much $$ is it to have someone install them ( i know jack about installing gears)? thanks!

4.33 gears are really the only final drive gear you can add. 4.33 gears top out at around 170mph so they should be good for street, plus added acceleration in the 1/4 mile. Hope your not looking for good gas mileage because these will not help.

4:33 are on GTUs and you can also get them from www.mazdatrix.com and they do help.

if you want to drag race and drift, you'll want an LSD.
Changing the diff isn't hard at all. Done it twice with a friend.
I don't think my car would ever hit 170, but I do have the narrower 5th gear of the GTUs. At 120 I'm at around 6k rpm.
Now that I think about it, they should have made the GTUs 6 speed, then it would have really been the ultimate N/A. The superior gearing would almost make up for the lack of torque.
