Getting upset with FC!!

Ok, here is the story so far. Got my 7 early august of last year. Guy said that it had a rebuilt motor or whatnot, and its never had any probs. Okay I thought, good deal, no rust and fresh paint. Well within a couple of weeks a tire goes flat, no prob just dip into the "nicer" rims and tires fund to patch it up. Week later it goes completely flat through another hole!! Well dip into more of the fund to buy new tire (I'll never get my volks). Next little while the car seems fine. Then on september 28, at around two in the morning while leaving a friends house, I let the car warm up for about 4 mins (it was minus a couple degres C) and was off. I was driving slow keeping the revs way below three. Then two minutes into the ride, this terrible shutter and boom, lost compression in one of the housings!!!!! If I took my foot off the gas the car would die. It took nearly two hours to get home on a dead rotor. Well I was like F**K some new engine rebuild (which is why the price was a little higher than normal). So I parked my car for the winter and saved up for my engine. Spring time comes along and place I park my car looses my center cap from one of my rims!! The guy even said I don't even remember it beign there. Anyways, took the car to the mechanic to get the engine installed plus mods. As it turns out my clutch and TO bearing are worn so need another 570 for clutch and 68 for the bearing (already dished out 2900 for engine + 1300 for install). Now after that was all finished I thought great my car is in good order now (besides the missing center caps..... another one vanished next day after getting car back!. Well a couple days ago while I was driving the FC I was at 5000 rpm in second and shifted into 3rd and now it grinds... something it didn't do before!!!! So with advice of member went out and got MT90 + install. All together 90. Well still grinds into third... now I'm looking at getting another trans..... and today while walking towards car I notice the other rear tire is balding, so I need that replaced as well (I'll never get volks) I'm so frustrated I told my mom I'm gonna sell the car and get a civic hatch and put a B16 in it... well maybe not, but I am frustrated with this thing right now!!!!!

if you sell your 7 and by a civic hatch something very bad will happen to you.

Where in Canada do you live? That is one expensive install. And that clutch sounds pretty expensive- you can get them way cheaper. Whos doing all your work?

Don't sell it. You've already put much money into it. As long as you finally get the tranny, your FC should run trouble free for many years to come. Seeing as you got the major components: new engine, new clutch, and new tranny. Drive a Civic, you'll be glad you kept your FC.

are these figures in canadian or us dollars? the second gear fuckup is normal, the only way to fix it is to get another transmission. can't remember where i saw used ones for sale, but it'll be more money than you probably want to spend at this point.

yeah maybe you guys are right about the civic thing, but what keeps on aggrevating me is that I do one thing and another thing goes!! I spent a lot of money into this car and as of right now it seems that I have almost wasted it. I feel bad for saying that but my mom and I were talking for a few hours about this and it really made me see how much money has gone out, and its been almost nothing but problems... she keeps asking me when is it going to stop but I really don't know. Well at least the sunroof still works (knock on wood)

also here is another thing. I'm young and like to accpect challenges everyonce and awhile (I don't do it everyday but I'm pretty sure most of you can understand what I mean). I don't want to invest in another NA tranny if it wont hold up again. I'd like to upgrade to an TII tranny, but then I need drvice shaft, halfs........ you get it.

I am in the same boat, by turbo FB has been in the shop more than I have driven it, it seems.

The guys are right, you have invested good time and money in the car, don't give up faith now. With a new motor and tranny, the car should last you a few years, hopefully.

And who says that if you buy another used or even a new car that that car will be trouble free?

Your complaining about your rotor costing you $'s? The only thing you can count on in your rotor is at some point you'll start spending money, and if your foolish one day you'll add that figure up. But remember how can you put a price on a the joy of a 7

a turbo tranny will be stronger, but i don't think they're immune to the 2nd gear grind. i know exactly how you feel, i put a bunch on money into my neon for stupid **** that shouldn't have happened. now i've got my 7 and i'm happy with that. if you don't enjoy driving your car, or owning it (not because of monetary issues. if that's a problem, get a geo hatch), then sell the car. i say get and drive what makes you happy. if you're not happy with it, there's no point in owning a car that was built to be enjoyed. but my 7 does **** me off some times, like when i have to work instead of driving it.

I havent driven my FC for lke 6 months. Its been sitting in the garage waiting for the rebuild (Engine isnt blown, Im just rebuilding it cuz Im tired of being slow ) It kills me, but no car Ive even been in gives me the same pleasure as my Rx-7, even if they are faster, or whatever. Imagine this beauty sitting in your garage and not being able to drive it.. It will be all worth it in the end though...

I've owned my FC for nearly a year now and have driven it for the last 6 days. I'm the happiest man alive. It's slow as *** (boost issues) but still the most fun I've ever had.

TII Trials and tribulations

I'm am the proud owner of an 87' TII, and have been for 3 years. the first year and a half I owned my FC I only was able to drive it 6 months out of the 18 I had it. Just because it needed repairs (it wasn't taken good care of from the person I bought it from) So when that was all finally done it was great I loved it ripped around it everywhere with 121k on the original engine... Last winter my engine finally gave and I was forced to once again send my car it to the garage that is terrible (for a mazda dealership) at fixing rotarys. And during the duriation of the time I've had my FC I've loved it... I get exhaust leaks, and **** and my parents are always telling how I should get something new and my brother's always making cracks about it. But no matter what they say they've never been able to fully apreciate what the Rotary engine has to offer. And regardless of the lil' things (exhaust leak) My car will still eat theirs alive, because there 4 bangers, turbo charged lucury cars, and other rices can't even compare with the force induced rotary power band

Sorry if I really got in to it

Actually I have a suzuki swift/ geo hatch. That thing takes a beating and keeps going.

I realize now the dedication to my car. I didn't buy it so it could be a reliable daily driver. I bought it cause of its uniqueness and funness (don't know if thats a word) to drive. It may be a pain to have things keep goin on me, but that is a responsability I took when getting this car.

I love you bessy!!!!! (not cars actually name)

That's just the clutch, and not labour??? If so, you got raped!

My 6-puck ACT copper clutch was $249.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this way, but when you buy a new (to you) car it takes time for the car to get used to you. That's why I think so much **** breaks after you get it. I've had my 2nd 7 for just over 2 years and after chasing a myriad of gremlins and components that wore out she's damn near 100% now. Aside from the 3600 stumble, a mystery squeal that's most likely from the clutch and needing a new coolant level sensor, she's working perfectly. And fast as hell.

Stick with the car. You'll get used to each other and then things will fall into place.
