getting ready to purchase T2 hood, and i had a question about it.

I remember hearing that if im going to switch out the hoods, im going to need to also get the latch and the hinges. Is this correct?

I was under the impression as well that the steel hood latch won't close right on an aluminum hood? Something to do with the weight of the hood?

The special hinges are supposed to help with galvanic corrosion...they might but you really don't need them.
The only difference between the hood latches is the strength of the hasp spring...again, you really don't need it and if you don't like the way it closes just go to Ace Hardware and get a lighter spring.

Put anti-seize on the four bolts holding the hood to the hinges.

What I'm surprised about is that no one here has yet to tell you that you need a turbo motor under that turbo hood or you suck at life.

Though it's already been answered, you don't need the hinges but the latch helps a bit. I had a steel hood and my carbon fiber hood wouldn't close on the steel latch. I changed it out with a guy parting his car out that had an aluminum one. Now, I am able to actually close the hood but it does require me to press quite a bit on the latch spot for it to lock. It's in the tightness of the spring. Something to be careful of is not breaking the plastic end of the hood release cable if you do get a donor latch. I broke mine and as a result, I now have electrical tape holding the cable to the latch itself.
