geting power out of my s4 na 6port.

Ive been thinking about what I can do to get some more power out of my FC this spring for as cheap as possibul without haveing to go full standalone and rebuild and port the engine. I was thinking I could take my s4 sixport engine thats in the car now. strip it down to the bear block and put all t2 stuff on it. basiclly port match an s5 t2 intake to bolt up to the six port block, and swap the na ecu with a t2 ecu. the only thing I am worried about is that my six port block has higher compression rotors then a t2 would, and the porting will be a little bit bigger with the six ports open. so what im wondering is would it be safe to run a setup like that on the stock t2 ecu? I would be running 93 octane in it for sure and be premixing. I would like to make 200-300whp would the stock turbo be able to handle that? I realy dont feel like dishing out the money and puting the time in with a stand alone on this project yet! I just want to get it ready for drifting this summer asap!

200 to 300 is a large step, 200 is doable with some bolt on but 300 on stock turbo no way in hell. you have to run a larger than standard turbo for the high compression engines because you have to run less boost through them.

stock turbo is good to 275whp if it feels up to the job.

Drift the n/a or sell it and save to buy a TII. The amount of money and time involved in a "stock" na-t just isnt worth it. Then from stock na-t to aftermarket turbo + standalone and fuel system is a whole nother damn level. Just isn't worth it in most situations. Also do a ton of searching.

well can I get away with the stock turbo? i mean I will be fine with 250ish hp or a little less. but will I b safe with the stock ecu on the higher compression rotors?

You won't be safe with a stock ecu above 200whp.

And like everyone else said...you aren't doing anything new. Use the search feature next time.

Na is less advanced since there's no turbo in the mix.

You can blow up a turbo much easier than na, though poor maintenance on either will result in engine failure.

Best bet is to get a turbo swap , turbo car, or just keep your na-- get a full exhaust/safc and get it tuned on the dyno.

On s4 you'll get 140-145+ whp tuned on stock ports which is around 165-175+ hp , to get 200hp you'll need a streetport.

I have a 6port turbo but I also have a standalone and probably too much time/money in the setup to be worth it. If you want to go turbo, just swap in the complete setup and be done with it. It'll be cheaper and easier than my route.

200 HP wont happen on a stock port, you'd need a streetport...it might be possible but it'd be pretty hard with a stock ported engine

My last na had a street port and every bolt on I could get , it just wasn't tuned and I was probably 170-180hp at flywheel.

with the high compression engine you will be limited to about 12-13psi on pump gas and a way to time the engine(standalone EMS). which would put you at about 225whp with the stock intercooler, intake and exhaust or about 250whp with a larger remote mount intercooler.

an old tired used turbo also won't last very long pushing it that hard.

you got to pay if you want to play there is no real short cut but the next best thing you can do in my opinion is to sell your car and search for a already modded turbo car.

our community forgets than when you buy part xxx and put it on your car part xxx has almost half the value. this happens all the time when you dump more in it than you can get out of it.

just my 2 cents

I would recommend running both coolant and oil lines for the turbo.

well i just want 2 be able to go with the stock ecu. I have a big hks fmic so that should do a lot better then the top mount! I will probably make a custom 3inch exahaust. I geuss I will try and shoot for about 10psi being my max psi I will want to run. would bumping up the seconderies to 650cc's help with keeping the engine safe at all or would I just flood out as soon as they start injecting?

You're just going to blow the engine up doing that. The words "cheap" and "high-compression turbo" don't really go together. The only cheap way you can do it is to use a fuel pump with overrun issues that will increase fuel pressure (ie walbro) and an AFC to throw even more fuel at it. The TII timing maps are too aggressive for high CR engines; especially in the high load/high RPM range. Your only chance is to run it extra rich, which also means you won't get anywhere near the full power potential.

you can always do a shot of nitrous, just keep upping the HP shots.

well ****! I dont know i geuss if I end up going with an rtek or a standalone I will boost my six port block. But if I dont I geuss I will just get a full t2 swap and wile my six port block is out I can rebuild and port it.

Turboing your 6 port na will cost as much as a buying a running turbo car, not to mention its a lot of work and custom fabrication and the na transmission/drivetrain really can't handle more than 200hp anyways.

There are many people selling non-running turbo rx7s complete or close to it for a fraction of the cost, I bought mine for $1000 , it needs a rebuild, on the plus side it came with a lot of bolt on mods and has only 94,000 miles.

Philosophy- Make someone else's failure into your success.

yea I think ill just try and find a t2 engine to swap in. that way I can build the six port engine and port it that way ill have a back up engine incase the t2 blows. I geuss the best place to get a t2 would be from ebay or some engine import place right? and I know this is probly everywhere on this forum but what do I have to change wireing wise to make an s5 t2 ecu work in my car incase I get an s5 t2?
