Unhappy Get the FD? T2? Dump the N/A?

Well, after about 2 years of having my car, the time has come.

Ok, so a couple post's ago i said i found an FD, well. It's outa the question. I can't offord it.

After alot of long nights sitting next to my car, and working on my car and doing everything i love with my car (including tapping her to redline a couple times daily) The time has come...

For what you all might say? Well. The type of power i am looking for just will not come from my car. I could do so much. Headers, intake, port. (which i'm scared to do myself) so many variables to make a FAST all motor car. But for what? low 14's? I am not a drag racer, nor a street racer, but i like to have power on tap. And the only way is gunna be a turbo. Either a completely differnt car (Find a Turbo 2) Or find a wrecked turbo 2 with a good engine/tranny/computer/ everything i need and put it in my 86 GXL..

I never thought i would say this but i NEED a turbo . Everything about them. The BOV. THe turbo whine as you revv out to 8,000k Rpms, the massive amounts of tourqe availiable at the push of a pedal, and of course much higher HP than is feesable from an N/A motor.

All this is inspired by this webpage. I see you guys with your 400 HP cars running around town. "man" i think to my self. Why have i waisted (not really waisted, it's all learning experience) but why have i waisted my time all along with an N/A?? Anyway, i'll go for now. Be expecting my to post pics of my new 'project' as soon as i figure out what i am going to do. Later guys.

Any insight would be great, i want feedback.. i wanna hear what you guys have to say...

I just put a TII drivetrain in my 87' N/A. it was kind of a pain in the ***, but well worth it. I finally was able to drive my car for the first time tonight, and WOW!!!!!
I love it!!! its pretty much stock now - just a 2.5 inch straight pipe all the way back, and a little cone filter, and no emissions, and ported wastegate, but it pulls sooooo much harder than my N/A ever could have without tons of time and money involved.

and because my N/A was only $1000, and my wrecked TII parts car was only $1200 with a rebuilt tranny and J-spec w/ about 40k, it was well worth it.

It depends on:

1- how much money can you get from selling your current car
2- how much can you purchase a TII parts car for

3- how much do you love your current car

I think those 3 factors will help with your decision making.

I think I'm gonna sell the n/a and try to find a TII with a straight body and nice drivetrain but with a popped motor. I just think it'd be easy and cheaper to start with a TII with all the parts. I feel you on the power crave man!!!

Just remember there isnt much you can test on a blown tii, unless you can get it running (totally feasable).

Yes, kind of hard to test to see how the tranny is w/bad motor. Its a hard decision though, whether to shoot for a TII swap into my n/a or sell and find a TII.
Theres my car now...it has gorgeous aaint, body, interior. I'd rather be able to keep it and do the TII swap. I'm looking at $1,675 for 13BT/TII trans shipped...hard to weight it out..help?

$1,675 for trans engine shipped
$1,100 dollar rebuild kit from RB (so damn expensive!!)
$90 dollar 80 psi OPR

Price's can just keep climbing and climbing..I want to rebuild the J-spec b/c there good cores with their low mileage, dont want to risk having it blow and getting good rotors and housings ate up.
