General question on ignitors and colis
I was just curious on the leading and trailing coils. Mine checkout according to the Haynes manual, but I was wondering if intermitent failure could occur when they get hot? I have a jerk around 3Krpm that happens once in a blue moon. No codes generated.
Just being curious on prices going up, I routinely check Mazdatrix on different parts. Like a few years ago I bought two housings for ~$450, and now they are over $600! They show the Trailing coil/ignitor assembly as no longer available and you have to order parts separately. Are there any good aftermarket OEM replacements? I'm not planning to buy any right now, but I usually buy Mazda parts because they seem to last, but as time goes on parts will eventually become no longer be available from Mazda.

no, they rarely fail unless someone grounds the RPM check wire(open black wire off each coil). they especially don't fail intermittently, check the rest of your ignition system like plugs and wires, if they're old then just replace them.
generally a buck felt around 3k is the 3800RPM hesitation which is multiple threads on the 2nd gen forum and is caused by a lean condition when the secondary injectors are being staged to turn on as the primary injectors get turned down.

Thanks. My plugs and wires I changed after the intermitant bucking occurred and it happened a few weeks later. I've read a ton of threads and confused myself by overload of info.
A couple years ago I had constant bucking and it turned out to be the pressure sensor, despite manual troubleshooting c/o procedure.
