gauge wiring

gauge wiring

hey, what wires from the guage cluster respresent what sending units? I am replacing my gauges with autometer and I have a new oil sending in place but I just want to use the factory water and fuel signal. I am not sure if it will work but I will call autometer and see. I just do not want to run new sending units (lazy i know)

To tell ya the truth, for how hard it is to get to the gauge wires, Id rather install new sensors lol.

Make a blank plate out of steel or carbon and install all the after market gages in there. Hell with the stock ones

don't use the stock sensors... I highly doubt it will work.. auto meter won't be able to tell you if they will either..

run new sensor, wire, and gauge all together.

What he said. It's highly unlikely the new gauges will not read correctly (if at all) using the new sensors. It's the small matter of Autometer not calibrating their gauges to work with sensors made 15+ years ago by another company in another country...

while I agree that the sensor and gauge would both need to be replaced, there should be no need to replace the wiring.

why would you hack up the stock wiring to try to use it with an aftermarket gauge? best thing to do is leave it in and working and add the other gauge anyways.
