gauge cluster not working

Good afternoon to all!

Lets get down to it.

The car: 1986 SE with LT1/T56 swap. using the caprice's engine harness and rx-7 body harness.

The only gauge that you cannot hook up in this situation if the stock RX-7 speedometer as it is mechanical and the t56 transmission is electric.

Anyways, the only 2 gauges I really needed to work were my tach, which was re calibrated to run the v8's distributor and was functioning before I had replaced the optispark in my LT1. The other gauge I had working was the gas gauge. I have aftermarket oil pressure, oil temp and coolant temp in the spot under my radio and all of them work, but they are on my ignition switch for power.

Well the engine was missing badly so I replaced the optispark(fancy name for the distributor on these engines) and the waterpump, and she is now running great. I think notice nothing in my cluster is working anymore. The back lights come on no problem, turn signals and hazards still illuminate, as do my high beam warning.

The only thing we have played with is just splicing into the yellow with blue tach signal wire, which now gets spliced into my v8 harness of the ignition control module.

Like I said this was working properly not too long ago.

I have not blown the meter fuse, or any other fuses.

Has anyone experienced this before? Maybe my cluster is just a goner and I can swap my tach out into another cluster...

Anyone have thoughts?

Thanks,
pat

Thought:well if the wiring has nothing to go to,how can it Measure anything?
the old harness had sensors off the Keg to go to.so the gauges cold read that..now that you put an LS1 in there, the sensors and engine are no longer there,so how could your gauges read anything?
also If you can put a wire to the yellow/blue then your tach should work.(on your cluster). If it has the right firing to read it.

I dont think you read correctly or I didnt explain correctly.

The only gauges that were working in the cluster were the tachometer and the gas gauge. after the swap.

My volts never worked, even when rotary still.
Oil pressure has been replaced with an aftermarket gauge, same with coolant temp.

You are correct in saying they wont read with nothing hooked up, but we never played with the gas tank or any of that wiring, so I dont know why it suddenly failed.

I dont get what you mean by putting a wire to the blue/yellow?
