use that gasket remover spray from autozone, it makes it soft so it just comes off.

Try one of those (I don't what the proper name is) plastic wheels that fits in a drill, and is designed to remove paint. They're about the size of a wire wheel, (4 inches diameter) and about one-half inch thick, made of a semi-hard black plastic. They work great removing gaskets - Right down to the metal (won't hurt aluminum) in no time. Cost about $6 at Home Depot. I just used one to remove the gaskets from the UIM & LIM. Took about 5 minutes on the whole job, smack down to shiny metal.

I use the same kind of thing, a plastic fingered drill bit that rips the old gasket right off but doesn't hurt the aluminum.
