gasket between upper intake manifold?

Is there supposed to be a gakset between the upper intake manifold and the lower one? i pulled it apart and now my car wont hold idle. if it goes under a 1000 rpm it dies unless i give it gas.

Yes, there is supposed to be one. Anytime you are mating up metal pieces together, you most likely need a gasket

Maxdatrix has them too. I just ordered one, about 4 bucks. Be careful there are about 4 different configurations. The website has good pictures.

my 87 TII previous owner just used RTV sealant w/o a gasket. Got the car very cheap cuz it wouldn't run (afm was unplugged), had a nasty vacuum leak, wonder what was from, hmm..

Yep that'll happen. I just go down to the dealership for gaskets since there not so bad.
