Gas tank removal?

I have a 1987 Rx7 GXL, and i need to remove the gas tank as it is in poor condition.

I have the tank filled with water and im just wondering if there was any special instructions for tank removal, i am going to be going with a fuel cell.

Thanks for any help.

S4 FSM page 4A-75. For a better pic see page F1-51 in the S5 FSM.

Hmm, let me remember, drain it first, water is nasty.

In the trunk pul up the carpeting, undo the fuel pump assembly etc. *now that its prob ruined from water. (I mean what the heck man, water!). Also removed the cover on the other side where the filler hose connects.

Then remove the guards around it under the car, there are like 2 bolts holding up the two straps. You're prob going to have to work with it a while for the straps to finally come loose.
