I think this is the only question i have asked on the forum since the search will answer most questions but i could not find the answer im looking for.

The car is a 90' GXL with a turbo swap. Last week the stock (TII) fuel pump started to whine and has done nothing but get worse. Also the gas tank seems to have a tapping sound happening from inside of it. I am not a noob to Rx7's but this has me stumped.

1. Of course i could just replace the fuel pump which i was planning on doing already.

2. The fuel filter is clogged and the pump is working harder to pump fuel which is why it whines so loud now.

Just a few ideas but if anyone has had this happen or knows whats wrong it would be lots of help. Im going to replace pump this weekend so ill post if that helps or not. Thanks.

 

It's going to be a bad pump, or a clogged pickup sock. Just like you assumed.

 

Thank you Aaron i just needed a second opinion. In the gas tank it sounds like fire crackers are going off lol. I heard a bad pump will wine before going out and make a clicking type noise that i mentioned. We will see what happens though thanks again.
