coming home last night, there were a few times that the car would not excalerate. I would push the pedal in 5th and not get any response, after dropping it down to 4th the car would go and everything was fine. Well about 10 minutes from my exit it did the same thing, this time dropping gears didn't do anything. I had to pull over turn the car off and back on, which cured the problem for the rest of the drive. I have a feeling it is the fuel pump, am I right in thinking that? Is there a home/ ghetto method to testing it without a real pressure tester? Is there anything else I should look at, before the pump?
