Fuel Smell/Consumption/Backfire

These are the problems that I am experiencing. The last time I had a fuel smell my O-ring was bad on onw of the injectors. However this does not seem to be the case this time. The car backfires quite a bit after deaceleration and also while at an idle speed, like in 5th after the engine is warm. And I have noticed a slight increase in gas usage. Any ideas if all these may be linked together? Or Seperate?

No loss that I can tell, Canister and ACV both gone.

Timing was set correctly, there shouldnt be a way for it to lose a notch, is there???

if you mess with the idle at all , its always beneficial (atleast on my car) to recheck the timing ..
