Fuel Setup Questions/Thoughts/HELP!

Been looking into doing the next step in my FC, and seems like the fuel setup is the next place i get ready to work on...

So right now the fuel setup is basically stock with the exception of having a Walbro 255LPH pump and 720cc Secondary Injectors.

I am planning on running a parallel setup since it seems the way to go for big hp/reliability/proper way to do it. I am estimating to hit 280-320RWHP after all my other mods are said and done, and yes i have a standalone to help tune for this as well as a hybrid turbo. I dont wanna do the fuel setup so i have to redo half of it later, i want to do it right the first time without going to do some crazy 1500 dollar setup.

Here is what i am thinking to get so far with a rough price estimmate.

- Aeromotive A1000-6 FPR $139.95
- Summit In-Line -6 Fuel Filter $26.95
- 15ft Summit SS Flex Braided Line (up to 1000psi) $52.95
- NOS -6 Y Adapter $29.95
- Viton -6 O-Rings (10pack x3 @ $7.50 each) $22.50
- Fittings -6 Female (12 x $4.88 each) $58.56
- Fittngs -6 to 12mm (2 x $6.95) $13.90
- Fittings -6 to 14mm (2 x $6.25) $12.50

Totaling about $358.00

Now the only things i have not included in that are bigger injectors (thinking to move my 720's to primarys and getting 1000cc secondaries) and 2 fittings to connect the SS Braided line to the stock feed and return lines.

I have a couple of concerns and thoughts that i havent been able to solve with searching on the forum and google gives me anything but.

1. How to properly install AN fittings so they dont leak? i know you dont use teflon ****, and you have to use a o-ring to seal it. Is that it?

2. I also bought a MARREN FPD, now where would i put that in this setup? I have no idea where to put it so its effective and works correctly.

3. The pressure of the fuel system should be 60psi, but if the regulator increases 1psi for 1psi of boost and i am planning on running 12 to 15psi that means overall pressure will be @ 75psi (and like the fuel filter says max 75 psi and all other filters i found are 75 or less...am i figuring that out right?) any thoughts help on how this is calculated or where my pressure should be?

4. The stock hard lines (as per Reted's site) can withstand 500hp, but should be changed @ 400, however i am hoping for 320RWHP max so they should be fine, but how to connect the SS Braided lines to the stock hardlines properly?

5. the return line should be "one step down" so i am going to have to buy -4 line to connect from the FPR to the stock hard return line? or can i still just stick with the -6an? Any tips/help on how i should handle the return line?

Any help is apprecated, THANKS!

Between the filter and the first rail in a series rail system, or between the filter and the first Y in a parallel series system, as close to the rails as practical.

The pressure of the fuel system should be 60psi...
No, stock static fuel pressure is 36psi, and there's really no need to go much higher than 40-45psi.

Do you really need SS hose and AN fittings, or do you just want the bling? They really are overkill for a street car. Quality rubber fuel injection hose and brass fittings will cost far less, work just as well (both performance and reliability), and make all your connection questions moot. If you really want the looks that's fine, but don't think this is the only way to upgrade the fuel system.

Hey NZ thanks for the reply, but i dont really need it, its kinda a Bling thing and i also heard thats the 'proper way'. I do like to try to do things right the first time AND be happy with it as well.

How would i do this with the rubber hose? Like the ends? and connections? like the FPR is 2 way -6an fittings.. the hose would use i suppose a barbed end but the other side is usually a MALE an fitting but then i need a double female connector?! LOL

AN fittings have a bevel.
This bevel is supposed to mate perfectly on each end - this is how it seals correctly.
No need to teflon tape or thread sealant - in fact, you can cause a leak if you use teflon tape due to the tape getting stuck in between the beveled surfaces.

Dunno why you think this, but NZ already mentioned it...

Not very easy with the stock 5/16" size...
You can try and use -6 AN SS hose and clamp the **** out of it...

You can still use the stock return line?
Any reason why you can't?

An engineering supply shop that stocks brass fittings will have adapters with a thread on one side and a hose barb on the other (like these). They screw into the S4 fuel rails in place of the banjo bolts, PD and FRP, and can replace the AN fittings on the Aeromotive FRP.

Like I said, it's just an option to consider. I certainly wouldn't consider it an "improper" way.

This is how I ran the return line. It goes from the FPR to the stock hard line. I used 3/8" rubber fuel line. I used the -6 to -6 FPR fitting with the O-ring to seal it right at the FPR. Then I used a -6 to -6 female coupler. Then a male -6 to 3/8" barb fitting. In one of the threads in the not to long past (within 2 weeks) There is a post about fuel line setups. I layed out all the part numbers from jegs.com to do it with. You can do it with your whole system. I just did it with my return line because the rest of my system is done in SS line.
