Fuel Pumps and Other Questions
Hi all;
I'm currently getting started fixing up an '88 NA FC, and from my research I've got a few problems:
1) Clogged catalytics
2) 3800 Hesitation
3) Engine cuts on turns
4) Warning sound on sharp right hand turns
I know what I need to do about the first two problems -- I'm gonna reground everything, clean the fuel injectors, and I'm thinking about gutting the cats since I can't find a decent set (read: I don't know where to find a decent set -- if you can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it) to replace the OEM parts. I have a straightpipe, but I don't wanna put that on if I can't find a way to disguise it.
I need help with the last two problems, though. I believe I read somewhere that the engine cutting on turns is due to either a bad fuel pump or the baffles in the fuel tank going out. Any suggestions as to where I can find a decent replacement for those parts? Ebay is turning up nothing. I believe I read somewhere that I could just use an FD fuel pump in the FC. Any validity to that?
And as far as the warning sound goes, I think it's just a wiring issue, but I wouldn't have even the slightest clue where to begin looking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
One last question...I've been looking at camden superchargers. I'm certainly not gonna do anything with that idea until I get the beast running in pristine condition, but would a 12" supercharger be worth the 4k? I'd put in a turbocharger, but my research says the supercharger'd be cheaper, and I'd prefer the direct throttle control of a super over turbo lag anyway.
