Fuel Pump Wiring.... a mess if I ever saw one

All right, so I have an 88 na I just replaced the engine in. It'll start, it'll run. It's not the engine's fault... but the fuel pump won't work. Bad connection somewheres. So I chased it down to the relay, and here's what I got.

black/white wire- battery voltage with ignition on
grey/white wire- continuity to ground, no voltage
black- continuity to ground, no voltage
brown- how many ways can you say nothing?
blue- again, nothing whatsoever.

I'm fairly certain the relay's good, all the resistors/solenoids tested out all right. Which leaves me thinking it's either a short in the ecu circuit (I think that's the grey/white one?) or an open in the air flow metering(brown). But I'm not sure. Should there be voltage in that one? I tried hooking that part of the relay up to battery voltage and got nothing, tried hooking the brown one to a straight ground and still got nothing.

So, I guess the question is, what do I do now?

The fuel pump will only have power if the engine is cranking or running, or if you jumper the yellow check connector in the engine bay. Have you done that?

It's a 2-pin poking out of the wiring harness beside the right front strut tower. Put a jumper wire across the two pins. This bypasses the safety switch in the AFM and allows the fuel pump to run when the engine's not. Turn the ignition on and you should be able to hear the fuel pump running (open the fuel cap to listen). Remove the jumper wire before driving the car.

doesnt the fuel pump turn on when you put the key to "on" right before starting it? mine does! you can hear the fuel flowing through the rails...plus when i had a fuel leak, i put it to on, to see where the leak was, and it started spewing from an injector! so wouldnt that mean the fuel pump was on? i might have misunderstood what you meant nz...... you definently know way more than me about fc's! i was just curious
