fuel pump rewire question

I am gathering supplies to rewire my fuel pump and I just wanted to ask if there was any reason not to tie into the EGI fuse rather then doing a inline fuse from the battery?

How would you tie into the EGI fuse?

usually people do it to run heavier power wire to the pump, and use a relay to switch it

^I get where the OP is coming from. He is leveraging into the EGI fuse in the main fuse box to also serve as the fuse for this alternate circuit for the fuel pump. Actually makes sense as you don't want the engine running if the pump isn't as there could be a fuel starvation (read leaning out) moment. The kind of thing that makes Turbo engines go POP!!

So long as you make a very secure connection at the main fuse box, I don't see a problem. I will say that many folks including myself simply leveraged into what is otherwise an empty slot in that same main fuse box to that same end.

would I still need the relay since none of it is power unless the car is powered on anyway?

All the fuses in the engine fuse box are constant power if that's what you're asking.
