fuel pump question...

i have an 86 shell with an s4 question...here's the scenario:
car has been sitting for a year, engine was in storage. i decided to get it up and running again. so we decide to drain the old gas out by attaching a car battery and letting the fuel pump let the gas out. fuel pump kicked on and ran just fine. couple days later, everything hooked up right, started it up. we had to keep cranking it for a good while to get it to turn over....compression was shitty, but car started up. injectors were clogged, gaskets leaking. ok, no biggie, decided to remove water pump and change gaskets, took off intake manifold and changed gaskets. do u guys think that starting the car many times could have blown a fuse or blown my fuel pump by chance? fuel pump wont even click over. oh yeah, and i added s5 tails on it. had to use s5 light harness too...could that have shorted something out as well? any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys, RJ

#1...emptying the tank like that was dumb. This is why you should always read a book or something prior to doing ANYTHING on your car. There happens to be a convienient plug on the tank for draining purposes.

I'll come up with something more helpful later...tired...

Exactly, I have a feeling that it doesn't work anymore because the fuel pump runs on a different voltage than just a battery.. you probably fucked it up.

Not only that, but lol, if there was a spark from that goddamn battery while you were emptying the gas you could've been dead real fast.

The ENGINE fuse is the fuse that drives the fuel pump. It's located in the crew compartment near your left foolt.

The fuel pump only works when: 1. the key is HELD to Start.........2. the engine is running and the key has been returned to ON..........3. when the key is to ON and there is a jumper wire installed in the yellow, two socket, fuel pump check connector located near the right front strut tower.

The fuel pump will run just fine off straight battery voltage.

The car, according to you was running. Are you now saying the car does not run anymore???? From the above you do realize that the fuel pump will not clilck just because you turn the key to ON.

Werd, not only could the gas have blown up, but the battery as well. And that = no thanks.
