Fuel Problems

Ok so I bought another RX. Its identical to my other 88 vert. Same color and everything, except that everything on it is stock. The interior is damn near mint except where somebody used a crow bar to steal the stereo and mangled the console. The exterior is perfect except where some idiot tried to bondo and paint the truck lid, but thats minor stuff. So they guy tells me the motor is shot so I give him 750 for it and tow it home.

I find out it is flooded like a bitch so I change the oil, plugs, and do the transmission fluid trick and I try to start it and nothing. So for giggles I floor it and it starts right up and runs great while your foot is on the gas. It will not idle at all. It starts right up again so it is not flooding again. I did a compression test on it and its about 80 to 85, which seems pretty good for a car with 130,000 on it.

Anyway what Im trying to figure out is this. Every other RX I have had if you touched the gas when you started it, you flooded it. This one you have to floor to get it started. At first I thought fuel pump, but that should either work or not from past experience. I figure I will change the fuel filter also. Could this be an injector problem?

Well vacuum leak just popped in to my mind. Thats probably it or a good place to start anyways. This ought to be a fun sunday afternoon!
