Fuel Problems
While I was driving my 87 T2 it died. I traced the problem down to not getting any fuel. I replaced the fuel pump with a new one and still no fuel so I read some more and replaced the AFM, due to it having the fuel pump switch in it. Turned the engine over and it fired up for 5 or 6 seconds and then died and will not fire back up. I have checked all of the wiring and connections that I could and still nothing. If anyone has hope for me please respond. Next is the ECU on the list correct?
With the key to ON (not start, ON), can you push the vane in the afm aft and now hear the fuel passing thru the fuel rails? On a normal car you can.
If you can locate the fuel pump check connector near the boost senor area, you can jumper it's two sockets and have the same effect as pushing the vane aft. It is two socket, yellow in color, and not attached to anything. Just floats around.
No ECU. Either look for the fault codes using a checker OR get a digital meter and the Fuel section of the FSM called Control Unit, and read each socket at the ECU connectors.
The FSM is a free download and the location of the url is in the FAQ on this site.
