AL fuel problem.....

Ok so Im wondering how you go about cleaning the fuel system out? I have a 87 TII. It will start up and run for a second but then sorta putters out or if I press the gas it just cuts off so I figure the fuel is bad or there is crap in the lines.

i used to have the same prob on my n/a. but mine turned out to be the CAS wires but if you want to clean ur system drop the tank use some palmolive a hard brush and a bit of brake parts cleaner on those hard to reach spaces, thats what i did. my tank was really dirty on the inside, now it shines with new life. dont forget to clean the pump and change the fuel filter. also, check yout coils, injectors, could be electrical. i have seen alot of these cars with a **** load of rust and crap in the tank so your idea might be spot on .

Crank Angle Sensor its the thing with a round blck cover with wires sticking out its on the drivr side of the engine. see i had the same problem i cleaned out my tank and fuel pump. car kept shutting off. started shaking wires around found a blck wire on the leading coil touching metal causing a short, then shook the CAS wires every time i did the car shut off. taped them up and problem fixed.
