Lightbulb fuel lines on 88 t2

So I wound up with a t2 swapped vert, fixing some leaks and some wiring issues I noticed that the fuel pressure and fuel return lines are plumbed together before the fuel rail, my knowledge of fuel systems would tell me this would seriously effect fuel pressure. May be there is some rotary magic I'm not aware of? Just wondering if I should put this back to stock of it's there for an actual reason, and what that reason is. Thanks guys.

there are two main ways to run the fuel lines stock and then a parallel system looks like this

Ok, that makes sense to me. So no reason why the feed and return would be plumbed together. Thank you sir.

Nah. Tell us this. Is there a brass or copper fitting that is joining the two together. There is a product at MAZDATRIX that joins the two together and it's used to bleed off the rail pressure after you stop the engine. Go look at their site.

There are no fancy brass fittings, but my first thought is this is what they were trying to accomplish. I will be putting in a fuel pump kill switch and plan on using that to bleed pressure. Thanks for the helpful info.
