fuel line waltz

Besides my other problems I noticed a fuel leak coming out of the main fuel line at the lowest point of the left rear wheelwell. I traced the drip up to a really bad looking area (about 4 inches up the incline), What is a good fix for this? should I hacksaw the area out and use 4 hose clamps and some 3/8s hp fuel line and live with it or should I run a new line(I don't have much money but I have rivets and a dremel.) Or is there some kind of way I can seal it with something?

I just want some ideas and yes I searched.

edit: should I trying using the uv stuff and a blacklight to make sure the leak isn't coming from somewhere else?

A fuel leak is not something to get skimpy on. Get a new line section.

What are you going to do with rivits and a dremel?

if you can make a flaring kit out of those rivets and that dremel, you can replace the entire section with about $20 worth of steel line and $3 worth of new fittings.

okay ted please tell me where I could pick up a stock replacement?

and the rivets and stainless boat clamps with the dremel will hold the line up under the car. I didn't want to use rubber line though(I already have the line jerry rigged).

I have done flaring with fuel lines for boilers, so basically I just cut it out and flair both ends(with fittings on) and throw in a custom line inbetween?
I am bad at explaining things but where do you think I could pickup the line and fittings? Could I use the line and fittings made for boiler?

Or, you could cut the line just forward of the problem area. Flare it. Then run 3/8ths FI hose to the tank bulkhead.

all I need to do is flare it and it will hold up with a hose clamp? The broken part to of the line is very close to the tank but I can't seem to follow the fuel lines up there, what is my best way to tackle it? Right now my jerry rigged line seems to come close to the exhaust, I will prolly figure out something.

I was assuming this was the rubber hose part?
The size is 5/16".
Any good auto parts store should be able to get it for you.

If this is the metal line part, which is sounds like, how about getting a used replacement?

I already have over 24 ft of the 3/8 rubber hose. I replaced all my rubber fuel lines (and ran jerry lines just for the time while it doesn't leave garage) except for the ones in the rear of the car but I can't see them (do I have to drop the tank). I am not completely sure if it is the metal lines but where it looks like the leak was coming from it is all pealing off and I am positive that it's the area. I prolly should use the uv stuff and a blacklight.

Or just turn the key on. When the pump primes, the pressure will force fuel out of the hole pretty rapidly.

And yes, the rubber hose is 5/16ths, not 3/8ths as I previously stated.

hmm I am positive I am running 3/8 hose that is jerry rigged right now maybe I am wrong

and I didn't want to get fuel on the garage floor again ^_^ but I guess it will be the best method of action, I might get the uv stuff just to make sure with a black light.

I also will go ahead with the flared method after I find it. thx for the help guys

That 3/8" stuff you're using...
Is it rated for fuel injection???
Fuel injection hose is like $5+ per foot!
If you have 20+ feet of it, we're talking over $100 worth of hose you bought???

I bet you bought carb stuff, which is like $1 / foot, and it's leaking...
