Fuel Leak!
Fuel Leak!
Hey guys. You probabily read my thread on removing the Upper Intake Manifold on my S4 GXL. well, I managed to get my Pulsation damper changed, and I STILL have a fuel leak in that area. When I pulled my old PD out, the screw was still in it, which leads me to believe that the PD wasn't bad.
I still smell gas when the car is running, and fuel is leaking from that area. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I'm not sure if its the injectors, seals, or the primary rail itself....to bad I cant look at it while its running to check.
Anyone have any suggestions? thanks guys.

Take out the injectors, and put on new O-rings there just a couple bucks from your local auto parts store.
I had a bad PD and there was a waterfall of fuel leaking right near the exhaust. After I fixed that (w/ a new FPR and parallel setup) I still had a small leak. Turns out one of the o-rings had a finger nail sized cut in it. (probably from removing the injectors while checking for leaks.

bump.. I noticed earlier it was spraying the fuel in a slow stream onto the throttle linkage... I dont think its leaking from the PD anymore though, but Unfortunatly I Can't have the car running with the UIM to see. anyone have any suggestions?

Jump the yellow connector on the passenger side. It bypasses the AFM, so when you stick the key in the ignition and turn it to on, the fuel pump should fire up.
Be vary cautious when you pressurise the system.. fuel + anything = fire.. not to mention its unsafe to work on a pressurised fuel system, but thats the only way I know of to test for a fuel leak without knowing exactly where it is.
First and last post? Perhaps.
Yea just turn the key on and jump that yellow connector and then you can see where its coming from. I recommend anyone to do this when having the UIM off anythime just to have the peace of mind. Also it primes the fuel lines if there is no leak.
