Fuel Leak???
I have an 86 GXL that seems to have a slight smell of fuel and is just getting me a little worried. The thing is I am really familiar with 2nd Gen's and do not know what to look for. I checked the secondary injectors and fuel lines and they are fine I am thinking it could be the primarie's.
Where else can it leak from???

For starters get a fire extiugwaearedsSher...#2 Look under the upper intake manifold..with a flash light..I had to replace a rubber hose you can hardly see under there have someone run the car and look for drips.. Look at the PD "pulsation dampener" if you have an 86-88 model..there is a plastic cap on it..they have been recalled..well mazda wont but the people that owns rx7's got the word out.. its on the fuel rail. but yeah i had the same problem..

Thanks guys I actually do have a fire extinguisher handy.
I did check under the UIM and it does look wet but cant really see from where I will take off UIM and take a closer look.

1.3L is not that small
if its under the uim manfold then it would be your pulsation dampner... or pherhaps a busted fuel line... your primary and return line run under the manifold into the rats nest and back to the filter, return line.... make sure there are no cracks or rips in the lines... if you have it off might as well replace the lines.. be sure to use FI fuel lines rated at up to 150 to 200 psi.. not the cheap 50 psi lines as they will fail in a short time

Guess what guys I let the car sit for a while today and just got back from RITE-AID and checked under the UIM and couldn't believe how much fuel there was under where the pulsation damper. You guys were right , tomorrow I will check all the fuel lines and PD.
Luckily I have an extra PD from the previous engine I had.
I will post pictures as soon as I get everything apart.
Should I also check the injectors or do they rarely fail???

I finally removed the UIM and this is what I found

notice how dirty the fuel rail is and PD, but what I noticed more was that the primary injector on the right side of the picture seems wet.
What do you guys think
How can I check where it leaking from with UIM off, just to make sure...
