Fuel Issues..

87 NA, 88 NA motor with 87 Injectors and harness.

Okay. Now I've been having fuel issues and I'm not sure whats wrong, I was just troubleshooting. Now, with my fuel pressure checker connected to the feed line after the filter. I jump the check connector and turn the key to on, the pressure maybe over 1 or 2 seconds builds up to 39.8 and stays as long as the fuel pump is running. I turn the key off, wait 5 minutes...no pressure at all in the system...haynes manual says its supposed to have 18 or 19 psi hold pressure. I get zero. The car also wont start without ether, once I spray some ether in it'll start right up and run. I start the car with the clutch depressed in neutral so the AWS kicks in...revs up to 3500 rpm..slowly drops off to 3000 and thats it, it just stays there. It wont idle any lower..

I changed the fuel pump awhile ago for a known working pump that came out of a running driving car. Not sure if it was the same then because the car never ran until I swapped an 88 motor in with 160 000kms out of an 88 I parted out.

I'm not sure whether this pump is fucked, or my Injectors and FPR are the culprits...I'm using my 87 UIM, fuel rails, injectors, and throttle body.

Now the engine ran in the old car but it flooded..also started no problem with ether but also Idled around 1000 rpm. I ran some ATF through it to build the compression and it hasn't flooded yet which probably means my fuel system is fucked. I don't know why it won't hold pressure, but I haven't tried switching the FPR with the 88 one...and I don't even know if these injectors are good.

I need some help...this car is driving me crazy and I want to drive it.

Okay I've discovered that the secondary injectors are not firing, and there is some hesitations. With the fuel pump jumpered and constantly running the car will idle for awhile and eventually stall when it heats up.
