Fuel Injector question... Is there a point in what I am thinking of doing?

I can buy 550cc fuel injectors out of a TII for 80 dollars. They are clean and all, but I've searched and from what I've read here on the forum there isn't a point since my gxl is stock besides an expensive exhaust, some weight-loss, and a cone filter.

It is my understanding that running 550cc injectors will just make the car run too rich since with 460cc injectors it already runs rich.

So I was just wondering if I should just stick with the stock injectors and save my money..

(It also needs a rebuild so if this isn't going to make a difference please let me know/flame me.)

you don't need those injectors, the stock ones are fine for most n/a cars if they are cleaned.

Meh, if you are rebuilding, port it. Then with a S-AFC or Rtek you can control those 550's and may actually have enough air to use them.

Okay that's what I figured. I plan on streetporting it once I save up the cash.

But 80 dollars is approx 100 dollars which is like 1/20th of what I need to rebuild it.

The stock NA injectors should work fine with street porting. The NA 13B has a better brake specific fuel consumption than a turbocharged 13B, so you can get away with less fuel for the same peak horsepower level. With a fuel controller and good tuning, the stock NA injectors should support about 250bhp at the flywheel, which is more than you are going to produce with a streetported car that has a streetable exhaust system. Besides, lower-flow injectors have better resolution anyway.

example...

a friend of mine put a nice size bridge to his six port and decent sized D shaped exhaust ports with 3.5" strait through exhaust. this was a street car and EVERYTHING else was stock. all he did was add 550's and it ran great. AFR's were clean and smooth...

so even with a large street port 6 port, the stock injectors are just fine.
