Fuel gauge problem
The fuel gauge on my 88 vert will drop very fast until halfway, and I've only driven 50 or 60 kms. I can do 450 kms before the light comes on, but it's a pain because I have to take care to rely on the trip recorded all the time.
What could be the problem? Also what is the "sock" referred to in the fuel tank. I suspect I have one and it is partially clogged as I have sypmtoms of intermittent fule starvation occasionally. I took the cover off over the fuel pump yesterday in order to remove it to check this sock thing, but it got to minus 14 oc today too cold to work in an unheated machine shed.
Advice needed, thanks,
Mike
