fuel filter problems
I'm changing my fuel filter for the first time, and can't get the fuel lines to come off. How tight should they be? I'm not some little kid, and I'm pulling them very hard. any suggestions?

Well when we did this on MAX"s car and i did it on mine also it was faily easy. This was not to remove the filter it was to re-route the fuel lines for the rat's nest removal. What I do is use a set of pliers to grip the hose and then twist it from side to side while pulling it off this should work. If not try dousing it with carb cleaner or other lubes. You may estroy the rubber line though so buy some new hose. It will also ensure that your fuel lines don't leak because of age and cracks in them.

Cut the lines as close to the fuel filter as possible.
Chances are the lines are all cracked and dry anyway that last inch on each side and you don't want to put the same last inch of deformed old cracked fuel line hose on the new filter anyway.

These fuel injection lines can be a royal pain to remove.  Original ones tend to seal themselves tightly onto the metal pipes.  To make it easier for removal, get some pliers and rotate the hose first before attempting to remove.  Also, pulling on the hose turns it into a Chinese finger puzzle problem, so it's easier to push the hose fof with some pliers or carefully with a screwdriver.
