How do you know extactly when you are in need of a change for a new filter?

When I got bored one day in my case, but I would assume every 30,000miles or so. Unless you are having hesitation or a problem.

Ah, I was just wondering for future reference...but a kid here at my school is having crap load of problems with his car, and well.. I hada take a minor (second) guess at what it might be.

Depends on he quality of gas in your area.

I replace them every year, they are only $20 and maybe a half hour.

But you need to replace them at the very maximum of every 30K miles.
