Unhappy fuel cut switch problems!! Help!

I attempted to put on a toggle switch to cut the fuel pump so that my car wouldn't flood anymore. I cut the middle wire by the relay like I've read to do in these posts. I put the switch in between the cut wires to complete the cuircut and now my car won't start. I thought maybe I hooked the switch up wrong so I fiddled with it and eventually ended up re-attaching the wire I cut before to the way it was in the first place. Now it still won't start. Something happened whiile I was putting the switch on but I don't know what.

symptoms:
-engine will not catch at all, the needle on the rpm guage does not move at all either

-doesn't seem as though it is flooded, plus i don't smell any gas

-When I turn the car on the radiator fan comes on like it would when the car is hot, but it's cold, so something is messed up there

I checked the main fuse box and the fuses seem intact, but could there be a fuse somewhere else?

Could I have fried my fuel pump somehow while I was installing the switch?

I need help bad with this one because I can't figure it out and I can't afford to take it to a shop. Thanks to all of you.

If you put everything back the same way it was than it should start.

If it was flooding before you added the switch than it is possible that it flood again...maybe try popstarting it....or going through the same routine that you would if it was flooded.

I added the fuel switch to my 7 and it was the best mod I have done so far.

good luck

pop start

I've never pop started a car. Do I turn the key while I let the clutch out, or do I just throw her in first and let the clutch out with out turning the key. Will this start it even if it is flooded?

Try unplugging the battery for a few seconds and then reconnecting it. That should reset all the electronics. I had something similar when I worked on my fuel injection but I heard a click under the hood and then everything was fine. I think there is some kind of relay that trips although I don't know what/where it is. The fuel pump switch works! I had my injectors cleaned...replaced all the sensors and my car still floods...with the switch I get it started in less than 2 seconds every time! By the way I tested the leakdown at the injectors and even though they were just rebuilt they are still leaking more than the spec. allows. I'm getting new injectors (someday)!

PS. There are fuses under the dash and under the hood...make sure you check all of them...especially the main and egi fuses in the box on the drivers fender. FYI auto parts stores sell these fuses (although they don't look exactly like the ones in there) for much less than the Mazda dealer...just match the amps and the location of the prongs) I found mine at Advance Auto Parts.

One more thing came to mind. Try to start the car with the switch in the off position to unflood it. You might want to check your plugs too.

Thanks for the help akageals, but i tried the battery suggestion and it didn't work. I'll try to pull the plugs tommorrow somehow, cause you see I am at college right now and all of my tools are at home, so pretty much all I've got to work with is an adjustable wrench. But I'll see what I can do. I want to avoid the car shop at all costs, because for one they are expensive, and for two they suck. Anyway, I just wanted to stress the fact that my radiator fan comes on when I turn the key, I don't know why it comes on, but it does. I just figure this has something to do with the problem and may just be the symptom that gives away the answer to my problem. Thank you all very much for your help and any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Yeah...that fan is related to some electrical problem (no help I know). My car has done that before and then something I did made it stop and the car worked right. Seems like it was one of the fuses in the box under the hood. Sorry I can't help more...it's been a long time since I have had to do any work to my TII.
