fuel cut switch

fuel cut switch
hi. underneath the dash where the fuel pump relay is, i cut the middle wire and hooked up a toggle switch there. i extended the wire with 16guage speaker wire. is that ok? the wire seems to be the same thickness as the middle wire on the relay. thanks.
