fuel cut from Racing beat

I have a 87 T2 and I just put on my fuel cut controller from racing beat. I still have the stock exhuast with street port..... i heard when you put the controller on that the boost guage would read less boost than there actually is. Right now i dont notice a difference on the boost guage. it is still boosting and reading the same as before i put on the controller....Is this right? or do i have to put the 3" downpipe and ehaust first to notice that the controller will work...help if you can.....i need advice ....did i get a defective controller?

the RB FCD works like this....it limits the amount of boost the computer see......and if u have a stock guage it wont be accurate anymore.... if ur exhaust is stock all the way through chances are u wont see the boost spike.....

Actually, the RB FCD will let you see the same readings as normal until you hit the clamping voltage. With the stock exhaust you probably arent getting anywhere near fuel cut, which is about where the RB should clamp.

This is a complete non-issue for a couple of reasons. First, the FCD doesn't clamp until the boost is well past the top of the S4 boost gauge's scale (depending on model), and since you're obviously fitting the FCD so you can boost higher than that, the stock gauge becomes redundant. Second, The first mod you do to a turbo car should be an aftermarket boost gauge, so again the stock gauge become redundant. You should never fit a FCD without one.
