fuel cu tout.

Ok so I seen a thread in the past about fuel cutout in your second gen and what you can do to fix it. if anyone knows what im talking about hit me with that thread will you. My buddy's car was chugging bad this last weekend at the track. he dosnt have any power steering so the only thing i can think of is fuel pickup.

start here: straight from the FAQ: "I have this hesitation whenever I accelerate right around 3500-4000 RPM
The dreaded 3800 RPM hesitation is cause 90% of the time by poor ground connections between the engine, the battery, and the car. Clean or replace all the under hood ground connections. On 86 model year cars , replacing/regrounding the pressure sensor's ground wire has helped (do not re-ground a 87 or later model year). If there is still a problem after that, look at cleaning the fuel injectors and (on a N/A) that your 5th/6th ports are operating correctly."
and: "My engine cuts out when turning, but there is plenty of gas... whats wrong?
Fuel tank sock is dirty and needs to be cleaned or replaced, and or the baffles in the fuel tank are rusted away."

to better help you, we'll need more info on the car. year, mods list, engine type, overall condition etc.. also a helpful thing to know is when exactly is the engine bogging or cutting out?

yeah...i never seen any fuel cutoffs in my car...not rpm based (i can hit 8k) nor speed based (135mph no prob).

and at around 3600-3700 instead of a hesitation it feels like vtak just kicked in. very noticeable jump in power when the 5th ports open.

i have a sort of rigged grounding kit on my engine though. its designed to hook up like 4 amps or whatever but i use it for engine and body grounds.

Thats because FUEL CUT IS BOOST BASED. Probably RPM based too, but I cant remember back when I had a stock ECU.

okay its having the problem when turning left though we haven't checked the grounds the fuel filter, pump and pump sock are all new. I will check the grounds while he goes and has his injectors flow tested and cleaned tomorrow. the only mods are to suspension and exhaust.
