Fuel cell in fc

I took my gas tank off today and I found out that the inside was starting to rust. I was wondering if I could put in a fuel cell. Would it fit in the stock location or would it go in the hatch? Also where is the best place to get one?

Fuel cells are hella expensive, so you'd probably have to get a small one. By small, I mean like 5 gallons.

I looked into them when I had my '80, because the top was rusted to hell and bungs were broken off, and 79-80 tanks are impossible to find. I forget the exact pricing, but they will cost you. Remember, these things aren't just dinky little stamped sheet metal like the stock tanks, they are fully insulated and made of who-knows-what so that they can survive a crash on a race course without cooking off.

You might want to look into a stock replacement unless you are building a full race car.

Mine had a 15 gal Fuel Safe fuel cell before I moved it to my 1Gen. It fit pretty much in the stock location, but it hung down lower. You could get a smaller fuel cell (8, 10, 12gal) if you like.

The fuel cells aren't all that expensive at $800-1,000 USD, but then you need to get it installed (cutting and custom straps required), and buy the AN hoses and fittings, a new fuel gauge and sender, and maybe a surge tank, and you would probably want some filler plumbing unless you don't mind filling your tank with the gas cap in the middle of the trunk floor. The price adds up when all is said and done.

Although I prefer the Fuel Safe brand cells, ATL also makes some pretty good fuel cells.
