So I'm upgrading the speakers in the 87 NA Luxury Coupe and I had to get rid of the passenger side amp to get the speaker to fit so my question is how I wire to the passenger speaker and still get the driver side speaker to work. I've got the plug that came out of the amp with the following wires:
blue yellow
blue red
blue white
green black
green red
green
green yellow
tan
black

 

Look at the FSM for your car it has the wiring setups for different years and models.

DO NOT USE THE AMPLIFIERS!

Honestly, it's so completely elementary that you should just run your own, brand spankin' new wires from the head unit to the front speakers. They're RIGHT there... You can use the factory wiring and bypass the amp (By bypass, I mean rip it out and use the two speaker wires that remain) but I'd strongly suggest running your own wiring. It'll take the same amount of time and you'll be better off.

I took a look at it and realized I have no idea how to read that thing and probably wouldn't have a clue after hours of trying without someone to explain it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I considered that but it definitely won't take me the same amount of time.

Darlin', don't do it at all if you're not going to do it right. I've learned this the hard way. Yeah you can just bypass the amp and use the factory wiring, but I can tell that the wiring has degraded over the past, oh, twenty years. Do it right or just leave it alone until you have this 'ungodly' amount of time that it'll take to just run two simple wires not even two feet from the head unit..

If I remove the trim and take out the head unit and can poke through some new wire, I'll still be in the same situation with not knowing how to wire from the head unit unless there's a nice and simple diagram stickied on the the head unit.

 

run new wire or dont run any at all thats how i see it. when i bought my car it was wired through the stock wiring with the amps bypassed and a new amp behind the driver seat(its vert). So i ran all new wires little by little and now all i lack is the headrest wiring and all speakers sound 1000x better. Stock wires are like 20ga run some decent 16ga or 14ga. This will allow for future upgrades such as a bigger amp to the interior speakers.

 

Well I took another look at the FSM and I do see the 4 pin connector for the front speakers so perhaps I do know how to run new wire after all. I'm guessing that i should disconnect the plug for the amp when I'm done with that. I'll have a popsicle and use the stick to try to pop out the trim.
