Unhappy front seal oil leak???

Well today looking over my engine and I noticed fresh OIL!!!! After wiping it away and searching I think its comming from the main seal i can see the track from behind the main pullys down to the oil pan and driping on the ground, very slowly I cant actually see it dripping, it dripa maybe a drop and hour or two.
My question is this how much of a job am i gonna be getting mysel into replacing it and what else should I check/replace while im doing it and have stuff apart???
Thanks Alot.

Do a search for a thread started by Gnome- it's about 30 pages long, and pretty well explains the process to someone who didn't really know what he was doing when he started

wow, i actually went through this last week. My car was just pouring out oil from that seal. I lost a quart every 10 miles. It was terrible. But I fixed it in about 2 hours. Just take off all the belts, the main pulley(being sure to keep the clutch depressed), work the old seal out and press the new one in... reinstall in reverse order. And yes... that main pulley bolt could be a real pain. I had to use the starter trick. And then when you reinstall that bolt, make sure the copper washer is ok and you add some loctite to the thread. Good luck.

ok 1st question looking online for the seal it looks to be called the "crankshaft seal" the hayens manual calls it the "ecentric shaft", same thing? second question whats the purpose of depressing the clutch?
Thanks

yes, at auto stores, i had to ask for the crankshaft seal, because the tards don't know what an eccentric shaft is. But there's 2 seals... a front and a back. They most likely don't have the rear one in stock, but you don't need that anyway. Make sure you get the front "crankshaft" seal. And for the purpose of depressing the clutch... you don't want to let your needle bearing slip out of place when you undo the main pulley bolt, else you will have a sad sad time. Then that 2 hour job will become a week long project of removing the front cover.... unless you have a lotta free time.

ok thanks for all the info I ordered the seal today from a company that sells some parts pretty cheap, I used to work next door to them, There web site is www.eurowebparts.com. The seal was only like 6 bucs pluse like 5 bucs shipping. NAPA wanted 22 Bucs plus they had to order it from another whare house and I would have had to pay shipping on that... I should be able to do it on Monday and Ill post pics of the proccess.

You can buy a front seal at Auto zone (bought mine there) and the front seal is removable WITHOUT taking everything off. It comes off the front. You will have to have something wedged on and holding the clutch down. You can then remove the front bolt and remove pully assembly. You can use a screw driver to remove the front seal and then put a new one.

Shouldn't be hard to find a new tank. Alot of FC's around. N/A and T2 use the same tank.
