Exclamation Front Differential Mount Writeup

For several day i had been hearing a loud clunking noise coming from the rear of my car and with a little research on the forums i discovered it was almost guaranteed the Front Differential Mount. So i get the part that Friday from Mazda of Everett and go home to replace it.

The rest of my write up will be mostly in pictures with some captions as i took a bunch while doing this.

Here is what i found...
Car up on jack stands

The mount was still in ok condition, but i had the new one so i replaced it anyways.

Somethings wrong here

Sheard the metal right apart

What it should look like

Dont need that anymore

The new piece i made out of some 1/4" i had laying around

All welded up

Not the prettiest thing in the world i know haha

But it definitely fit's and works

The whole thing start to finish took me an afternoon, maybe about 5 hours. I know the welds aren't the best looking but their strong and that's what counts right? Well it wasn't very hard and i thought maybe this has happened to someone else and it could possibly be helpful.

Also i know before i started this i had a hard time figuring out where to place jack stands, it was between the pinch welds(which i went with) and the thin floor board supports. I went with the pinch welds because i thought it was a better idea and because my floor board supports were all jacked up but i was told by different people on this site that either would work just fine.

Hope this helps, and hope i did an alright job making this, because it is my first "right up". Thanks

-Joe

Looks good. If the subframe isn't on the car yet, go ahead and throw on a pinion snubber as well.

Good job Joe. I have the same clunking noise. So I went ahead + bought delrin mounts for the motor, trans, diff, subframe + subframe spacers from MMR. I should have gotten DTSS elim. I just now pulled her out + found the front mount is fubar. So I'm looking for delrin front mounts. (let me know if you know of any) but while I'm waiting I'll probably throw a pinion snubber in as well.

Nice pics.

We'll have to go on a drive sometime too.
