front defroster

hey y'all!! i was drivin' my 7 in the rain today and for some reason when u turn on the front defrost the air blows out of the vents and foot area only!! can anyone tell me what might the problem be?

Well, it's either the mechanical part that changes air flow direction or the Logicon and its associated relays and such. I would recommend following a procedure from a shop manual (these can be found online, do a search).

From my experience, I hear an electrical-motor sound coming from my dash when I have the "head" setting on and I change to feet or to feet-and-defrost, etc. as the motor changes the path of the air coming out of the blower motor. My guess is that the little motor went bad--if you find out that it did, mazdatrix sells new ones (www.mazdatrix.com), or you could buy a used one in the for sale section.
