Front Cover oil seal oring fitment question
Here i have a seal i got from atkins. I have had different types. and im not sure if the little plastic Ring needs to go in with the oring or not. Plus the oring wont really sit inside the groove. I Found another Oring i had around it was a bit thicker but smaller and fit in the hole better than the one i just got.
But i have seen many types of orings for the front cover. Do i have the correct one? And does it go above the cover gasket? I just want good oil pressure and i don't want to burn anything out. SO this is to make sure i dont have to tear this thing apart again. Id rather do it correct the first time.,
ALSO the photo with the oil pump chain. Can anyone tell me how to check to see if the chain is within spec or not? I feel like the chain is a bit loose. Maybe its just me. any ideas?

Don''t use the ring if you can't fit it! Just use the o-ring and either use the older style gasket with the smaller hole as per Mazdatrix's instructions, or don't use any gasket and just use sealant (make sure not to clog the metering oil pump hole).
The Teflon ring is only used when the front iron casting is the later type with the larger hole in which case both the o-ring and Teflon ring sit right inside.

yep, depends on the gasket, that appears to be the early style which should not use the teflon collar. if the colloar sits over the top of the gasket then no, do not use it.
the chain will be fine, never seen one fail even while perusing this forum. they do eventually get streched a little bit like you are observing but it still looks fine. i'm even more generous than the FSM is for the chain since it doesn't see very much loading or failure rates.
