Front counter weight stuck

This is a bit embarrassing I'm in the middle of swapping to a gslse front cover and removed the counter weight just to inspect things. (Engine is out of the car and on its flywheel.) Anyway was installing the counter weight and it is stuck about half way on. Pressed it a little bit not thinking about it and now it won't budge. The garage is fairly cold so I thought maybe the tolerance is just that tight and it shrank just enough? The key was still in the keyway. Should I try heat? A bit of wood as a prybar? Thank you for your help.

ive had them be sticky before, it might help to put it on and then install the key.
its kind of an odd thing, its like it doesn't feel like fitting today, but it was fine before, lol

Issue resolved. I tried again to pull it off and it popped right off. Sorry for the fire drill.
