Friends car....help!

Friends car....help!

Today, comin home for lunch, my friends cars engine temperature gauge, slowly went up to H past H, so we come to his place, check the rad......It's warm, not hot tho, i open the oil cap and smoke comes out.....any ideas anyone?

Smoke? How much smoke?
If there is a blockage, and little to no coolant is getting to/through the rad, it wont get hot. The rest of the engine will though. Best case, no problem - faulty gauge. (not likely) Worst case, time for a new engine. Rotaries don't like to be overheated. Check your hoses, rad, thermostat, and coolant level. Then check your compression. Next time the needle goes near the H, get off the road ASAP.

once again.. someone drove oh H, my gauge would get.. like 3/4 up and i would start to cry, any higher and nomater what i was doing, the engine came off, and i got a crash corse in un-powered-power brakes

Stuck thermostat. Or old rad hoses collapsing under suction.
