Friend just got a centerforce

So my friend just picked it up today a dual friction C.F and it didnt come with a throw out bearing, is that normal? if not then can he use the stock one or can he just go down to the parts store and get one for it?

get one from the dealer. (OEM Mazda). Will cost more but will save a lot of headaches as well. Don't forget the pilot bearing and pilot bearing seal.

Most of these clutch kits don't come with any bearings unless they explicitly state so.
So, unless the seller told you it should come with it, don't expect them.

My CF DF didn't come with anything either.

...not meaning to hijack the thread, but since you're talking about Centerforce clutches, do you guys that have them recommend them? Is it a good choice for street driven DD's?

Personally I think CF DF clutches are shitty.. I have only seen 1 out of maybe 5-6 that have lasted and that was in a 73 280Z with a turbo ZX engine/trans swap.

Now his came with everything (if I remember it was YEARS ago)

Spec and normally ACT comes as a full kit..

As for the release bearing aka throw out bearing I would ALWAYS use the OEM bearing most the aftermarket ones are plastic and normally prematurly wear out.

The quality between the ones Made in Japan and parts store Chinese or Mexico TO's is significant.

I just put in a Exedy Clutch kit that came with TO Bearing from Japan and it looks and feels as good as the Stock.

It is HIGHLY recommended to replace the TO bearing.

if you want to update your flywheel and tranny then yes... the flywheel/starter and transmission input shaft is different betweent the TII and N/A

I think he's talking about the throw-out bearing. I too heard this was possible. If the input shaft diameter is bigger on the TII.. I would imagine that extra room would be bad on the NA.. but if I recall, the NA's shaft flares and gets bigger as it gets closer to the transmission.. So, it might work.

As for CF DF's... They are great clutches for NA's... but I wouldn't think twice about using one on a TII.. I'd go ACT.

^^ I use them in ALL of my NA's.... Very stock clutch feel... lots of grip.

oooh, in that case, it could be possible. there is a collar that the bearing slides on, this collar im pretty sure is the same diameter
