If Liquid Anarchy’s mate wants to go carb, that’s fine, but these anti-EFI untruths need to be replied to...

That’s a lame excuse, totally irrelevant
and with carburated u wont lose horsepower at all instead it will gain...
Airflow makes power, not fuel delivery. Peak power will only be higher if the carb can flow more air. Mid-range (where much less airflow is required) will suffer do to imprecise fuel metering.
carburator is way simpler
You’ve obviously never disassembled and reassembled a carb. EFI is simple; it’s only lack of knowledge that makes something difficult
less vacuum lines..
90% of the vac lines are nothing to do with the EFI, they’re emissions controls (which can come off either way), oil injectors, turbo controls, etc
it does loose weight around the engine... when my neighboor did carburator on his 88 vert... the front of the car lifted a slighty... because of the lost of engine weight...
I find that very hard to believe. You’re replacing the manifold with another one, the TB with a carb, fuel lines are similar, still need an air cleaner, so what have you lost? The AFM, some plastic ducting, a few wires...
and another point the carb is way more simpler compared to the fuel injection system on these cars...
Most of the complexity on these cars is the emissions controls, not the EFI. And like I said above, if you understand how it works, it’s actually really simple.
...also the engine bay looks cleaner with carb setup
A carb is a lot of sacrifices just for a slightly cleaner engine bay.

It ALL comes to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
in the end.
If you EFI guru's want to donate a Haltech by all means go ahead eh

We got all motor carb rotarys
running 10's here in Orlando

Is that a Datsun that weighs 1200kg or a "Datsun 1200", which weighs about 850kg stock?
Like many people have already said here, drag racing is totally irrelevant when comparing carbs to EFI. Running WOT for 10-15 sec isn't exactly difficult you know...

I won't even bother - I think NZConvertible did a good job answering this reply.

yea he wants to go with a carb cause he
wants to go pick up the kids.

He wants power
which 99% is to drag race
may it be at a drag strip or at a light

No one craves more power just to cruise

going carb gets rid of all that dead weight.. poorly designed intake manifold with too many bends, and cleans up the motor under the hood, its amazing when you see how little of the stuff you actually use, or its overall impact in driveability, even if you go efi down the road with something like an ida injector tb, that leaves only the injector harnesses and tps you'd actually use aside from maybe a wideband o2 sensor?

I guess your opinion is worth more than the millions of dollars that Mazda spent on R&D for the stock system, eh.

and cleans up the motor under the hood, its amazing when you see how little of the stuff you actually use,
All that "stuff" had to pass stringent emissions systems testing in several different countries.

Ok, now I know you have no idea what you're talking about...
Carbs and reliablity?
You gotta be kidding me.
You just stuffed your foot in your mouth.

If you're going to dig up an OLD THREAD, at least put some decent information instead of BULLSHIT in your replies.

Friend got a down draft in the mail, and a deer in his engine compartment shortly after.

Myself, I blew my engine to **** and have been collecting parts for frankenmotor ever since.
