fresh rebuild... some problems i'm trying to work out
Well, I finished up my rebuild but have been having some issues; I expected to at least have something go wrong. Well originally I was really stupid and hooked up the starter wrong, it overloaded the system and fried the boost sensor ground coming from the ecu. I fixed the wire and the starter so that is ok now. The problem is, I am wondering if I may have fried the ecu when that ground wire went? The car starts up only from a pull start which I sorta expect since it was just rebuilt, but it won't idle. If I let off the gas it just dies... The intake temp sensor also is not currently hooked up due to one of the posts getting ripped off somehow when we dropped the engine. So I know that is probably affecting it somehow but I don't think it would keep it from idling. So could the lack of idle be caused from a bad ecu or just that it doesn't have enough compression yet??? Right now it has about 20 miles on the motor so I don't know if it should be idling/starting on its own by now or what. I can tell that after driving it more, it is running a lot better/smoother than when I first started her up. Any input would be great.
Thanks,
Aaron

i think the ECU has some sort of safe-mode for when you dont have the air intake temp sensor plugged in. i left mine unplugged on my turboII and the car ran for a couple minutes then it died and would not start (and it was pig rich during that time)
get that air intake temp sensor hooked up man, its probably causing more problems than you think.
ECU defaulting (air intake temp sensor unplugged)
+
low compression from rebuild
= bad times, and probably very tough to get started or running.
