anyone out there witha 89+ car, never trust your gauges. especialy the one that mesures your water temp. cuz mine never moved but my water seal is gone. i finally figured that out today. i started it up after it had already warmed up and let it sit and idle. then my friend noticd it was leakin alot of radiator fluid. so i pop the hood and look at all the bubbles in the overflow tank forcing the water out. so now i kno that that water seal is gone.

so what are my options?
how hard is it to rep;lace that seal?
i have alwasy wanted to put a 89 jspec in my car, but now i have an excuse, so would this be easier than fixin the 87 thats in there?

or what would yall do?
any advice or other questions yall would have will be greatly appreciated

The seals look like the ones in this attached jpg. See the quarter in the center. If you write the value of that twenty five cent piece down, and then move the decimal point to the right a couple of places, thats what each one cost, approx. There are eight of these to an engine if I didn't miscalculate. The engine is in five distinct sections and b/t each section there are two orings like these. Rebuild is in order. Might get lucky and remove the thermostat completly and refill the radiator and drive it for a bit. There is a small possibility the thermostat was frozen up. Feel lucky??????

 

thanx for the advice. when i toke off my radiator cap earlier i saw light colored stuff in there that could have been a gasket or orig or somehting.
so does all that come in a rebuild kit?
and if so hwere would you recomend me get rebuild kit from?
i have also heard of a rebuild video, atkins rotary i think.
is that orth getting?
